The New Small Blog

Musings by the author about things small and big

Could The New Small be Big?

In the latest and excellent Rush song, “Caravan”, there’s a lyric repeated throughout:

In a world where I feel so small I can’t stop thinking big.

If my editor lets me, that quote will open the book.

I can’t quite put my finger on it, but something tells me that I’m on to something. Yes, I’ve been doing well at Kickstarter, approaching 90% of my goal. Yes, I’m stoked that Chris Brogan is writing the foreword. But it’s more than that.

Recent backer and technology expert Frank Scavo recently emailed me:

I really like this subject matter. I appreciate what you’ve done on system implementations, failure, and all that stuff, but frankly it is ground that has been plowed many times by others. This new book sounds like something that could really be interesting. Because of its small business-orientation, I think it will resonate more with the majority of readers.

A few others have conveyed similar sentiments to me. Who knows? This little book might wind up being big.

Think of English Bulldog puppies–the most adorable creatures on the planet. They are born so tiny and wrinkly and, within six months, weigh nearly 50 pounds and drool all over the place.

I just plain like that imagery.
